The Indian Air Force’s all-woman sky-diving team, when it performs its debut programme on Air Force Day Parade on October 8th, at its 79th anniversary celebrations, will be the first of its kind in the world. Yes, there has been no other sky diving unit comprising only women, in armed forces across the globe.

Three Lady Officers of the Indian Air Force – Flight Lieutenant Nivedita Choudhary, Squadron Leader Nirupama Pandey and Flight Lieutenant Rajika Sharma – successfully scaled the highest mountain peak in the world, Mt Everest earlier this year in June. They had also secured second and sixth positions in the International High Altitude Marathon. This had given an impetus to the sky diving programme.

Along with the ‘Akashganga’ team that has been showcasing their talents in the past years, these six women will enthrall audiences on this special occasion.
